Akahsia
Akahsia’s fascination with bellydance began in July of 2003, when she witnessed a performance at a Gig Harbor Renaissance festival. Six months later, she found herself at Zero Gravity Studio in Poulsbo taking her first Egyptian Cabaret lesson.
Since then her involvement with the art form has been continuous in both Tribal and Cabaret styles. In November 2006, Akahsia blended her experiences in bellydance with her prior on-camera extra work for a role in the bellydance fairy tale “Seven Dancing Sultanas”. Her instructors have included Kitiera of Zero Gravity Studio, Zanbaka at the 12th Ave. Studio, Sharon Moore of Infusion, Leslie Rosen of Raqs Serpentine, and workshops with Saqra, Amelia Moore, and others.
Akahsia has performed with the troupe Zamani, was the founder of the troupe Suspiria Fusion, and has performed live with Hejira and Raks Rafiki. Her work with Twilight Maqsuum, starting in 2007, has officially rendered the list of venues at which she has performed too long for a bio of this brevity (but there’s a lot of them).
